Albert W. "Chip" Cleland, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Meadville Medical Center.
Chip was born on August 26, 1943, in Titusville to the late Albert "Stub" Cleland and Georgianna Antill Cleland Slagter. He married Audrey I. Lohr on June 16, 1963, at New Richmond Methodist Church.
He was a graduate of Townville High School, Class of 1962, and Elim Bible Institute with a pastoral degree in 1996.
Chip worked at Mercer Spring and Wire, General Electric, Sparty Wood, the Corry Foundry, and Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. until the plants closing.
In 1999, Chip and his beloved family made their home in Eddyville, NY, where he faithfully served as the pastor of Eddyville Community Church for a decade until his retirement. In 2009, they returned to Pleasantville, where Chip continued to dedicate his life to ministry. His unwavering passion for spreading the Word and leading worship was beautifully reflected through his skilled guitar playing and genuine love for music. Chip's lighthearted spirit shone through his ability to effortlessly share jokes, bringing joy to those around him.
His talents extended beyond the realm of ministry as he also found fulfillment in working with his hands, embarking on various projects around the house, and helping at his brother's salvage yard. Chip leaves behind a lasting legacy of his unwavering faith, uplifting music, contagious laughter, and the imprint he made through his acts of kindness and craftsmanship.
He is survived by his wife Audrey of Centerville; three children, Lonnie Cleland and wife Shannan of Singer Island, FL, Bonnie Mitcham of Tidioute, and Desirae Hennard and husband Jon of Olean, NY; six grandchildren, Dylan and Sheila Cleland of Townville, Penn Cleland of Singer Island, FL, David Mitcham, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Dempseytown, Nathaniel Mitcham of Tidioute, and Ashley Carter and husband Stephen of Franklin; five great grandchildren, Kamdin and Kinslee Mitcham, and Rosalie, Stephen III, and Violet Carter; a brother, Frederick A. Cleland and wife Luana of Tryonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chip was preceded in death by a daughter Sheila D. Cleland; his son Larry M. Cleland; a brother Pastor Harry L. Cleland; a sister Marilyn McFadden; and a son in law David Mitcham, Sr.
A celebration of life for Chip will be held on Saturday, October 21st at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, 2 McKinney Rd. Titusville, PA 16354.
Private interment will be at Troy Center Cemetery.
