Althea C. Rogers (née Sebastian)

Althea Corinna Rogers (née Sebastian), of Titusville, passed away peacefully at age
100 on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Titusville Area Hospital.

Althea was born in the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis, aka, St. Kitts and Nevis
on March 17, 1924, to the late Honorable Joseph Matthew Sebastian and Inez Veronica
Sebastian (née Hodge). She married Thomas Emory Rogers, of Anguilla, on March 26,
1955, in the British Colony of St. Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla. He preceded her in death
on January 5, 2021.

She attended high school in the Caribbean and specialty schools, where she trained as
a legal secretary and court procedures stenographer.

Althea worked in her field in St. Kitts, St. Thomas, Antigua and retired from Chase Bank,
NY as a secretary to the Senior Vice President.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in New York.

Althea enjoyed reading her bible, listening to her favorite hymns, talking proudly about
her children, wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, chatting with friends and
family, sharing good humor, and playing her favorite game, drafts, at which she was
unbeatable. She was also an accomplished pianist.

She is survived by four children: Cuthbert Emory Rogers of Reston, VA; Dawn
Desplanque and husband Kelvin of Ottawa, Canada; Germaine Smith and husband
Clive of Pembroke Pines, FL; and Dr. Dwain M. L. Rogers and wife Rene of Titusville
PA; 12 grandchildren - the Brendin Rogers and husband Luis Velasco, Arin Rogers,
and Dr. Devin Rogers, Dr. Kathryn Desplanque PhD, Alexandra Desplanque, Brian
Smith, Shari Smith-Kikam Esquire and husband Mark (Marco), Danielle Rogers, Dylan
Rogers, Ethan Rogers, Phoenix Rogers, and Samuel Rogers, and unofficial adopted
son, Everton Roberts-Halladay; two great grandchildren, Liam Kikam and Sai Kikam;
four step-grandchildren; Chase Mong, Kameron Mong, Jordan Lindsay, and Elliana
Lindsay; and the faithful Dr. Leonard and Hillerine Ferreira. She is also survived by
many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Althea has one remaining sister; Bernice Eugenie Sebastian of Philadelphia who is age
111.

Althea was predeceased by eleven of her siblings. Some who passed recently were the
late Sir Cuthbert Sebastian retired Governor of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and
whose dear friend Mildred Jacobs mourns her loss, the late Elise Marthol married to the
late Dr. Francois Marthol of Haiti, the late Dorette McColman married to Roy McColman
of Trinidad and Tobago who also mourns her loss, the late Eurelia Irvine, the late
Eudora Shaw married to the late Vernon Shaw the 5th President of the island of
Dominica, the late Humie Pringle, and a step-grandson the late Logan Lindsay.


Interment will be at St. Catharines Cemetery, Titusville, PA.
