Anthony M. "Tony" Phelps

Anthony “Tony” M. Phelps, 34, from Titusville, made his transition on April 15, 2023, in the Oil City area.He was born on August 13, 1988, in Oil City, PA, the eldest of three children.

Preceding him in death, were his great grandmother, Alice Barnett of Titusville; his grandfather, Buddy D Schoch of Butler; and his grandmother, Esther Phelps of Meadville.

Tony had many passionate interests including listening to an eclectic mix of music and playing the guitar.Tony was in his element outdoors, fishing and camping, since he was a child. He enjoyed walking outside in nature as well as in town. Two of his favorite places were Nelson’s Ledges and Two Mile Run Park.

Tony was also interested in exploring technology, researching alternative medical therapies, as well spiritual and metaphysical ideas. He enjoyed learning and experimenting with a variety of cooking methods.

Tony was a compassionate person with a tremendous heart and sense of humor. Being in the company of his friends brought him much happiness. He had a deep love and respect for animals.

In his adolescence and young adulthood, Tony regularly used the Titusville YMCA weight room and the basketball courts.

Tony graduated from Titusville Area High School in 2007. He was brilliant, with an IQ over 160.

Alcohol and drugs took all of this away. It killed his spirit and stole his life from him, and from us. He had no power over this. Tony lost his long battle with addiction.

Tony is survived by his moms, Emily Flowers and Jennifer Schoch of Titusville; his sister Natalie (Phelps) Harshbarger and her husband John of Conneaut Lake; and his brother Joseph Phelps of Titusville.

A memorial service will be held at The Titusville Mill 221 S Monroe St. Titusville, PA 16354 on Sunday April 30 from 2-4 PM.
