Bruce L. Smith, 86, of Titusville, PA, died on June 22, 2025, following a courageous battle with failing health.
Bruce was born in Union City, PA, on May 9, 1939, to the late C. Reginald and Marie Banks Smith. He was a 1961 graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA, majoring in history. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1964.
He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, having spent one year in Vietnam, where he received the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star Medal.
Bruce was originally admitted to practice in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, on January 14, 1965. He began practicing law in Crawford County on May 1, 1967, until his recent retirement, having embraced his love for the practice of law. Bruce enjoyed his practice of many years and leaves special regard to Patty Elliott, Jill Flinspach, Jason Reagle, and the Shafer Law Firm.
Bruce's public service included the Crawford County District Attorney's Office, Crawford County Child Support Hearing Officer, Child Custody Mediator, City of Titusville Solicitor, YMCA Board of Directors, volunteer of Hospice of Crawford County, University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Advisory Board, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, and Elder and Deacon at Titusville First Presbyterian Church.
Bruce's family extends special thanks to the compassionate and caring medical staff at the Titusville Area Hospital, Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and Hospice of Crawford County.
This was the order of importance in Bruce's life: Christian, father, husband, lawyer, veteran, and being sober since 1981.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Sandra S. Smith; sons, Vaughan (Cathy) of Titusville, and Drew (Ully) of Indonesia; stepdaughter, Alison (Andrew) of Rochester, NY; granddaughter, Cheyann; step-granddaughters, Meghan and Cory; and his former wife, Carolyn of Florida.
Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Marka, and his parents. He was loved and loving and will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in Emerson Parlor, First Presbyterian Church. The memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Vaughan M. Smith presiding.
