Byron Carson Obituary

Byron E. Carson, 90, of Titusville, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at his residence following a brief illness.

Byron was born in Oil City on January 16, 1936, to the late Oscar L. and Mildred Sherwood Carson. He married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Byers, on September 14, 1957, at Tidioute Presbyterian Church.

He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School, Class of 1955. In high school, he was active in 4-H, focusing on tractor repair, and won the statewide tractor championship in his senior year.

Byron was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.

Byron worked at GTE Sylvania for several years and later at Vertical Seal as a machinist, from where he retired.

Byron was a founding member and former trustee of the Pleasantville Community Church. A member of the Penn-Ohio Model A Club for over 60 years and the Brokenstraw Antique Tractor Club.
He enjoyed working on the family farm and was especially known for his talent for restoring and repairing antique tractors and cars, particularly John Deere tractors and Model A Fords. A friend to everyone he met, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and neighbors alike. He also carried a quiet but steadfast faith in Jesus, reflected in the kindness, humility, and generosity he showed to others throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife of Pleasantville; three daughters, Mary Kay Manning and husband Paul of Portsmouth VA, Patricia Mason and husband Dwight of Sugarcreek, OH, and Katherine Seymour and husband Mark of Grove City, OH; ten grandchildren, Robert Manning and wife Emily, Kelli Duncan and husband Robbie, Caleb Mason and wife Lauren, Sarah Alderfer and husband Nate, Jonathan Mason and wife Elyse, Benjamin Mason, Benjamin Seymour and wife Olivia, Leah Seymour, Nathan Seymour, and Daniel Seymour; eight great grandchildren, Riley and Klaira Duncan, Rowen Alderfer, James Mason, Nora Mason, Evelyn, Titus, and Sean Seymour; his brother, Lavern Carson of Pleasantville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Merrow and her husband Richard; and a sister-in-law Barbara Carson.
