Carl E. "Carlco" Matthews Jr., 81, of Titusville, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at UPMC Hamot.
Carl was born on August 18, 1944, in Franklin to the late Carl Eugene and Mary June Long Matthews.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School and Erie School of Business. He married Holly Ann Sharp in 1971.
Above all, Carl loved being a Dad and Papa. His family was a great source of joy to him. He was an avid hunter and loved being surrounded by the woods. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was always reading or doing a crossword puzzle. He was also a gifted writer, especially of poetry, which he wrote often for his loved ones. He was also a skilled artist and loved making gifts for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Raymond Wagner, his son Samuel Dax, his sisters Victoria Lynn and Harriet Tressie, his brothers Gabriel and Patrick, and the love of his life, Holly Sharp Matthews
Left to cherish his memory are his children Maria Beck and husband Dion of Titusville, Kate Welborn and husband Travis of Belleville, IL, James Matthews and wife Ashley of Kennerdell, and Tiffany McMillin and husband Jason of Conneaut Lake; his grandchildren Courtney Lynn, Noa Grace, Samuel, Ariana, Gabryelle, Wyatt, Ryder, Daxton, Mason, Willow, Vedder, Hannah, Ava, Tyson, and Nevaeh; brother Paul Matthews and wife Diane of Mohrsville, sister Judy Porter of Hamburg, and sister Florence Witherup and husband Walter of Kennerdell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No public calling hours will be observed.
