Charles Allen Sr. Obituary

Charles S. Allen, Sr., 84, of Grand Valley, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at his home after a period of declining health.

Chuck was born on October 22, 1939 in Titusville, PA, a son of the late Charles and Eva Stokes Allen. He was married to Beverly Vogan on April 20, 1957 in Hydetown. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2012.

He had attended the Grand Valley School.

Chuck had owned and operated Charles Allen Logging for many years until his retirement. He started logging at a very young age building up a successful business with a grade school education. He could figure out how to build and fix anything. He worked very hard to provide his family with the things he never had and to instill a strong work ethic. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, deer watching and farming. He enjoyed laughing and joking with people, especially children. He also enjoyed watching western movies and old game shows.

Chuck is survived by his children, Larry “Jim” Allen of Tidioute, Charles “Stub” Allen, Jr. of Titusville, Theresa McDowell and companion C. Josh Shaffer of Pleasantville, DeWayne “Duke” Allen and wife Holly of Grand Valley with whom he made his home, and Bradley Allen of Titusville; grandchildren, April, Tami, Tyler, Allyn, Reilly, Ardanne, Katie, Courtney, Michael, Sarah, Marcus, Lucas, Travis, Nathan, and Justin; 21 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; brothers, Richard Allen of Grand Valley who helped care for him, Edward Allen of Enterprise, David Allen and wife Bonnie of Spartansburg, Paul Allen and wife Kathy of Tidioute, William Allen and wife Jenny of Waterford, and Chris Harris of Titusville; a sister, Roberta Allen of Centerville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a great grandson, Ethan Johnson; a brother Roy Allen; and a sister, Jessie Walters.

No public visitation will be observed. Private interment will be held for the immediate family.
