Clark Hall Obituary

Clark Nelson Hall, Jr., 89, died on December 15, 2024 at home with his loving family at his side.

He was born on October 12, 1935 in the Oswego, NY Hospital to Helen (Marshall) and Clark N. Hall, Sr. In 1960, he married the former Carole Fitch who survives him.

Clark spent 38 ½ years as an educator, having received degrees in science and social studies from Mansfield State Teachers College (now Mansfield University). He went on to procure a master's degree in secondary biological science education at SUNY Oswego. Later in his career he received his principal's certification from Edinboro University. His teaching career was spent in large part for the Millcreek School District.

In addition to teaching, Clark also coached basketball throughout his career; first boys' basketball at the junior high/ middle school level, then girls' basketball at the high school level in Millcreek School District and at Titusville High School. He went on to coach girls' basketball at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.

After retirement from teaching, Clark and his wife moved to Titusville, Carole's hometown, where he became involved in volunteering at Drake Well Museum. He was a member of the Oil Valley Blacksmith Association, demonstrating blacksmithing for school tours, and also showing and explaining the work of a cooper - two very important jobs in the early oil industry. He also served on the Friends of Drake Well, Inc. Board of Directors and the advisory board. He was part of the Nitro Show as the infamous "Curly" which was performed for Drake Well school tours for several years.

Another of Clark's favorite volunteer activities was performing in Titusville Summer Theater and Titusville Winter Theater productions. He appeared in many different roles in fifteen or more productions over the years, including his leading role in "You Can't Take It with You."

Clark was a member of the Titusville Historical Society and worked several summers in the Society's refreshment tent at the Monday Night Concerts in the Park. He served on the Board of Directors and he and his wife served a term as co-presidents of the organization.

While the Halls attended several different churches during their life together, Clark was always an active member serving on committees and singing in the choirs. He was a dulcimer player and a member of the Elm Street Strummers Dulcimer Band, which played locally.

Clark and Carole were selected as Titusville Citizens of the Year for 2017, and the following year were honored as 2018 Volunteers of the Year by the Oil Region Alliance. They traveled widely, visiting nine countries on five continents.

In addition to his wife, Clark is survived by his two daughters Amanda Hetrick and husband Mark Yanc; Marcia Hall and wife Erin Wanninger; Alicia Hetrick and wife Alex Markello and son Quinn; sister-in-law Anita Khayat, sister-in-law and brother-in law Barbara and John Copperthwaite; and sister-in-law Susan Fitch. In addition to his parents, Clark was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Harold "Hal" Fitch, Jr. and Saad Khayat.
