Curtis McKean Obituary

"Delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

Curtis Lee McKean, Jr. 83, was born on August 19, 1939, in Slidell LA, to Curtis and Eula Mae McKean. His greatest desire was to see his Lord and Savior, and on September 20, 2022, that desire was fulfilled.

He graduated from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, LA. After graduation he joined the US Air Force and was in the Strategic Air Command, flying in the B52's.

After leaving the Air Force, he worked at Mars Candies, for a year maintaining machines. He then went to work for Xerox as a technician for several years. He then worked for Boeing and retired from Lockheed Martin as an electrician. He and many others had the privilege of working together launching the space shuttles.

Curtis enjoyed aviation and had a love for it all his life. He started flying sea planes as a teenager and continued flying various planes most of his life. He also had a real love for Civil War history. He traveled to many Civil War sights and museums. His greatest love was for his Lord and Savior. He could be seen daily studying his Bible and always had the New Testament in his pocket. He was active at Lyona Bible Church especially the Men's Bible Study, WWII and Civil War Round Tables, and Seniors at Townville and Union City.

He leaves behind his wife Elma of Centerville; two children, Kerry Touchet and husband Johnny of Piedmont, SC, and Brandon McKean and wife Bridgett of Slidell, LA; stepchildren, Rexford Nunemaker and wife Dawnell, Melody Crum and husband Bruce of Centerville, Debbie Lyons of Union City, Valerie Lewis and husband John of Albion, Daryl Nunemaker and wife Penny of Corry; grandchildren; great grandchildren; two sisters, Jacquelyn McKean of Greensburg, LA, and Patricia Malbrough and husband Cliff of Lafayette, LA; and several nieces and a nephew.
