Daniel W. Wescoat, 62, of Pleasantville, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.
Dan was born on August 24, 1960, in Titusville to James H. and Margery Burdick Wescoat. He married Naomi R. Tarr in May of 1988 in Titusville.
He attended Titusville schools and was a graduate of Titusville High School, Class of 1979 where he participated in football and track and field. He attended Williamsport Community College and graduated with a degree in construction.
Dan worked as a self-employed businessman in the community for over 40 years, owning Wescoat Construction and Wescoat Rentals.
He was a member of the Titusville Masonic Lodge 754 F&AM., Zem Zem Shriners, Col. Drake Shrine Club, Elks Lodge #264, Moose Lodge 84, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Dan was an avid outdoorsman. Dan's favorite adventure was going elk hunting in Colorado at his camp with his family and friends. In the summers he loved going fishing in Canada and Alaska. He enjoyed NASCAR and attended many races over the years. He hosted many parties and family gatherings at his camp in Neiltown which was his pride and joy.
Dan is survived by his wife Naomi of Pleasantville; two sons, Ryan C. Wescoat and wife Erica of Titusville, and Daniel L. Wescoat of Titusville; a granddaughter, Ava Grace Wescoat of Titusville; his father Jim Wescoat of Titusville; four brothers, Brad Wescoat of Titusville, Mark Wescoat and wife Cindy of Idaho Falls, ID, Tim Wescoat and wife Wendy of Titusville, and Jimmy Wescoat of Titusville; his father-in-law, Donald Tarr of Titusville; his brothers and sisters in law, Theresa Whitlow and husband Keith of Greenville, IN, Sharon Strawbridge and husband Gregory, Donald Tarr Jr. and wife Patty, Gary Tarr and wife Carol all of Titusville, Christine Stewart and husband Keith of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Judy Hawk and husband Edward of Titusville, Cynthia Hamilton and husband Samuel of Centerville, Esther Smith and husband John of Titusville, Matthew Tarr and wife Michelene of Titusville, Julia Kinkead and husband Bill of Ridgway, Joanne Kilgore and husband Jeffrey of Kingsport, TN, and Sarah Tarr of Titusville ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margery; a brother-in-law Ronald Tarr.
A celebration of life will be held for Dan on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cross Creek Resort. A service and slideshow will occur at 6:00 p.m.
