David J. Andrews, 71, of Pleasantville, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Oakwood Heights Village in Oil City after a long and courageous journey with dementia. His life was one full of devotion—to his family, his work, and his church.
David was born on March 27, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, to the late William E. and Betty (Johns) Andrews. On November 17, 1973, he married his best friend and lifelong love, Susan Reitz. This past fall, they celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage.
Together, David and Susan raised a loving family. He is survived by his son, Jeremy Andrews and wife Jessica of Freeport, PA; his daughter, Trina Andrews and partner Kimberly Bidwell of Meadville; and his beloved grandchildren, Colm Andrews, Moira Andrews, and Maison Suttle—each of whom David loved immensely.
A proud graduate of Cochranton High School (Class of 1973), David went on to serve in the U.S. Navy starting as a dental assistant and switched to accounting. He was stationed at Washington Naval Yard, Washington DC. After returning home, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Slippery Rock University and later a Master's in Business Administration from Gannon University. He brought hard work and integrity to every role he held—working for Joy Manufacturing, Cytemp Specialty Steel, Talon Zipper Company, and finally as a controller at Community Resources for Independence.
But David wasn't defined by his work—he was defined by the way he lived. He loved being outside, especially when he could play a round of golf with friends. He also loved being at the beach with his family and sitting at his house on the deck by the pool, just as long as he was in the sun.
David will also be missed by his siblings: Marvin "Bo" Andrews (Mary) of Bethlehem, PA; Harold "Toy" Andrews (Brenda) of Ocala, FL; Iris Geer (Dave) of Saegertown, PA; his stepbrother, Dave Martin of Sharpsville, PA; and stepsister, Tish Andrews (Ron) of Meadville.
He is now reunited with his parents and his beloved dogs—Boaz, Max, and Minnie—who no doubt were waiting with wagging tails.
As per David's wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of his life will be held at the VFW in Titusville, 206 St. John Street, on August 16, 2025, beginning at noon, where stories, laughter, and love will be shared in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, Pittsburgh Office, 2835 E. Carson Street, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
