Doris Pattison Obituary

Doris Mae Seber Pattison, aged 100 years, of Allen Street, Titusville, passed away May 30, 2025.

Doris was born February 8, 1925 to the late Norman J. and Anna B. Foley Seber in Titusville, PA. Doris married Howard William Pattison on April 12, 1947.
Howard preceded her in death March 30, 2025. Doris and Howard were married 77 years.

Doris was a graduate of Titusville High School.

A native and lifelong resident of Titusville, in her youth living on the South Side, Doris was a self-described tomboy. She relished playing many sports. She chose to wear hockey skates rather than figure skates. Her best friends, Alma Daley and Audrey Jagoda gave Doris the nickname "Pug" in recognition of her tenaciousness.

Doris was a dedicated and devoted wife, homemaker and mother of six. Baking was her specialty. Seldom was there an empty cookie jar or freshly baked dessert at supper. Holiday meals were events to eagerly look forward to and relish. The meals were incomparable.

Doris liked playing games with her children, especially pinochle and Monopoly. She attended as many sporting events her kids were involved in as she could. It was a given to look up in the stands and see her smile of encouragement and approval. Doris instilled confidence and a desire to constantly learn in her children. She was an ardent reader of fiction, having read a thousand and more books. Doris was a lifetime member and patron of Benson Memorial Library.

Doris was also a swimmer. After her children were grown, she began swimming fifty laps of the pool three days a week, first at the YMCA, then at the new pool at Titusville High School.

In retirement, Doris and her husband, Howard, travelled throughout the United States as well as a few Pacific countries. However, her favorite destination was the Outer Banks of North Carolina. For decades, Doris and Howard would stay at the same cottage in Kill Devil Hills, often for three or four weeks a year. Doris loved the beach, rising at sunrise alone to walk miles along the sandy shoreline of the ocean.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Jill Pattison of Carlisle, and four sons; Norman, of Titusville; Darrel, of Titusville; Kevin and wife, Lynn, of Grove City; Alan and wife Suzanne, of Franklin; and ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Doris's second born son, Dennis of Titusville passed away May 30, 2025, following an extended illness, eleven hours after her passing.

Doris was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Seber, and two half-brothers, twins, William L'Huillier and Robert L'Huillier. Doris adored her brothers.

Also preceding her death was a daughter in law, Kathy Pattison.

A private family burial service will be observed at St. Catharines Cemetery.
