Duane W. Knowles, 92, of Titusville, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Country Acres Personal Care Home after an extended illness.
Duane was born in Corry on December 24, 1931, to the late Wallace and Ann Pline Knowles. He married Bertha G. Alderman on October 26, 1974. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2022.
He graduated from Colestock High and was a veteran, having served in the US Army during the Korean War. He entered the service on September 22, 1950, in Erie and was honorable discharged on September 21, 1953, at Ft. Lewis, WA, with the rank of Corporal.
Duane worked at Queen Cutlery and Joy Manufacturing.
He was a member of St. Titus Church.
Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially trapping.
Duane is survived by his six children, Gary Knowles and wife Susan of Menifee, CA; Stephen Knowles of Titusville; Daniel Knowles of Beverly Hills, CA; Michele Knowles, Mark Knowles, both of Titusville and Scott Knowles, of Pleasantville; three grandchildren; and his former wife Nancy L. Kelly of Pleasantville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Floyd Knowles.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 23rd, from noon to 1 p.m., at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc., 303 N. Washington St. Titusville. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Fr. Daniel Hoffman officiating. Full military rites will be observed.
Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery.
