Elenita Ashley Obituary
Elenita W. "Nita" Ashley, 90, of Titusville, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Titusville Area Hospital surrounded by her family after an extended illness.
Elenita was born on May 5, 1933, in Utica, NY, to the late Thomas and Clara Kloster Ward. She married William E. "Bill" Ashely, Jr. on May 29, 1954, in Utica. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2019.
She was a graduate of St. Francis High School, Class of 1951 and attended a 2-year school in Albany, NY, to become an x-ray technician.
Elenita worked for over 20 years at the Titusville Area Hospital as an x-ray technician retiring in 1995.
She was a member of St. Titus Church, Patient Safety Board, Visiting Nurses Board, and Infection Control Board all through the Titusville Hospital.
Elenita enjoyed cross stitch, traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, cross country skiing, and loved to be with her family and friends.
She is survived by her eight children, John Ashley and wife Nancy of Allentown, Christopher Ashley and wife Rose of Beavercreek, OH, Tim Ashley and wife Cheryl of Troy, NY, Peter Ashley of Titusville, Paul Ashley and wife, Jennifer of Nazareth, PA, Richard Ashley and wife Laurie of Titusville, FL, Eileen Shaw and husband Ralph of Aurora, CO, and Kathleen Martin and husband Scott of Las Vegas, NV; 20 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren; close friends, Rob and Cathy Buchan, and Todd Lesko.
Elenita was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Evelyn Ashley; four brothers Thomas, John, Bill, and George Ward; and a close friend Judy Lesko.
Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday February 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Titus Church with Fr. Christopher Barnes, officiating.
Interment will be at St. Catharines Cemetery.
