Emma Rhoades Obituary

With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Emma "Romayne" Rhoades, who departed this life on May 25, 2026, at the age of ninety.

Romayne was born on October 5, 1935, in Belsano, Pennsylvania, to Thomas and Esther Learn. She was raised in Belsano and graduated from Blacklick Township High School in 1954. Shortly after finishing high school, on October 9, 1954, Romayne married the love of her life, Robert R. Rhoades.

Romayne went on to become a devoted mother of four children, selflessly giving her all to her duties of motherhood. It was after her children were grown that she became a prominent representative of Avon for fourteen years. She had great success, earning her the recognition of Presidential Club status. Beyond family and professional life, Romayne found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved enjoying her time in her flower gardens. She adored spending time on her covered back patio, where she relished in feeding and watching the birds. Romayne loved to travel. She saw much of the United States in the family RV. When the weather would turn, she would spend her time in Florida, indulging in the "Snowbird" lifestyle.

Throughout the years, Romayne remained busy and active with many clubs, groups and volunteering. Robert and Romayne were active members of the Oil Valley Region Antique Automobile Club for Americas, where she served on the board as the club's secretary. While down south, she stayed busy with the Florida Flywheelers Engine Club and the Red Hat Society of Flywheelers Village of the Fort Meade, Florida chapter.

Romayne was also a dedicated volunteer, giving her time to serve as a voting machine operator in Titusville for Crawford County.

Romayne is survived by her children Ronda Schroeck (Bob) of Erie, PA; Rob Rhoades of Oviedo, FL; and Robin Rhoades of Charles Town, WV. Her son-in-law, Mike Vinopal of Pleasantville, PA.

Her grandchildren, Ashley Vinopal-Palomeque (Max), Michael Vinopal, Bradley Schroeck (Nicole), Jessica Matson (Nate), Jasmine Rhoades, and Joseph McCreary. Romayne, also known as "Grammie" or "Gaga" to her great-grandchildren, Samuel and Stella Schroeck, and Lucas and Landon Matson. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her daughter Karen Vinopal, her sisters Eva Edwards and Flora Learn as well as her brother, James Learn.
