Fredrick Hasbrouck Obituary

Fredrick L. Hasbrouck, 80, of Titusville, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the Titusville Area Hospital after a long hard fought battle with lung cancer.

Fred was born on February 6, 1944 in Titusville, a son of the late Clyde and Marie Hartman Hasbrouck. He was married to Sandra Mallory on December 23, 1980 in Pleasantville.

Fred was a graduate of Townville High School, class of 1963. He had been employed at the former Trans Penn Wax Corp. in Titusville until his retirement. He had also been employed for a number of years at Hasbrouck Sand and Gravel.

Fred was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He entered the service on December 29, 1965 and was honorably discharged on October 18, 1967.

Fred was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW in Titusville. He enjoyed traveling, tinkering with machinery, and being outdoors, especially mowing grass for the neighbors. Now he gets to enjoy mowing the grass in heaven. He had a silly name for everyone he loved dearly. He was always playing some silly prank on anyone he got the notion to, just to get a laugh. All who knew Fred loved him because of his kind heart and witty humor. Although mostly a man of few words, he could strike up a conversation with people he did not know everywhere he went.

Fred is survived by his wife Sandy of Titusville; five children, Kristina Nelson and husband Jeff of Edinboro, Traci Terney and husband Don of Titusville, James Middleton and wife Traci Jo of Waterford, David Middleton and wife Amy of Dover, NH, and Adam Middleton and wife Rebecca of Titusville; 19 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Hasbrouck and wife Ruth of Titusville and Dr. Roger Hasbrouck and wife Sarah of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; four sisters, Caroline Thomas of Meadville, Kay Hasbrouck of Oil City, Kathy Ritchie and husband Tom of Antonio, TX, and Karen Crawford and husband Roger of Guys Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Hasbrouck; and two sisters, Maxine Hedden and Bonnie Lyda.

No public calling hours will be observed. Family and friends may attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Breedtown Baptist Church 2037 Cherrytree Road Titusville, PA 16354 with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute 16792 Conneaut Lake Road Meadville, PA 16335. They also wish to thank all those who helped during Fred’s illness and to special friends Kevin and Kayla Sterling and family.

In addition to the Barco Institute, memorial contributions may be made to the Cherrytree Volunteer Fire Department 1311 Cherrytree Road Titusville, PA 16354.
