Grace Irene Proper, 94, of Oil City, passed away at Oakwood Heights Village on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Grace was born on December 15, 1929, in Fryburg, to the late Arthur and Irene Mohr McCauley. She married Gerald K. Proper on June 26, 1948, in Fryburg. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2017.
She was a graduate of Fryburg High School.
Grace worked for many years for the Queen Cutlery in Titusville Pa before moving to Arizona with Gerald and family, she worked for the United Methodist church for 4 years in Phoenix, she ended her career at Venango County Court House working in the District Attorneys office for Attorney Miles Lynn, Attorney Walter Bloom and several others. She was in Franklins Business of Professional Women Club and held Presidency of the Club.
She was compassionate and enjoyed life, loved to laugh and talk, many who knew Grace and Gerald would have a funny story to tell, please remember those stories for their Celebration of life together to be held at a later date. They both loved to make a house a home and thru the years they made life interesting. When here Grandchildren were born she made their lives very special and she cherished them and taught them the side of life that wasn't so serious.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Proper Schwindt (Ed), and Sherry Shawgo (Jim); Three Grandchildren, Dana Shawgo, Lela Mullighan (John), Lacey Mileski, Three great grandchildren, Breana Grace Shawgo, Mackenzie Grace and Kolson Richard Mullighan: a great-great-granddaughter, Willow Grace Shawgo; a brother, Donald McCauley (Nancy), and many nieces and nephews. She had two special nephews,Randy and Gary Proper, and a niece, Shirley Schwab, and her husband, Denny.
Grace was proceeded in death by her daughter Robin Proper.
A memorial service for Gerald and Grace will be announced at a later date.
Interment will be at Dempseytown Cemetery.
