Howard William Pattison, aged 101 years, of Allen Street, Titusville, passed away on March 30, 2025.
Howard was born on October 17, 1923, in Union City, PA, to the late Earl C. "Ted" and Lulu Beemer Pattison. He married Doris Mae Seber, who survives him, on April 12, 1947. Howard and Doris were married for 77 years.
Howard graduated from Union City High School and was a US Navy veteran, having served during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged thereafter with the rank of First-Class Petty Officer.
After attending Gannon University for a year, he and Doris moved their growing family to Titusville.
In 1956-57, Howard, along with his brother Carlton "Tuffy" and his father, built the family home on Allen Street.
Howard worked at Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp (The Shop, as he called it) for 37 years. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Doris, traveled extensively in the US, visiting all fifty states and countries in the South Pacific.
Howard was a student of botany, choosing to raise fruit trees, mainly apples, many of which he started from seed. He grafted too, having one particular apple tree growing five or six varieties. He also cross bred plums, creating his own special plum that was worthy of a patent.
Howard looked forward each year to hunting deer with his sons and grandchildren. He became a fan of Penn State football, having had his five sons graduate from the University.
Howard is survived by his daughter Jill Pattison and five sons; Norman, of Titusville, Dennis, of Titusville, Darrel of Titusville, Kevin and wife, Lynn, of Grove City, Alan and wife, Suzanne, of Franklin, and; ten grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Howard was preceded in death by a daughter in law Kathy Pattison.
Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday, April 7th from noon to 1 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be conducted with Mike Strawbridge, officiating.
Full military rites will be observed.
