Howard J. Ricke

Howard J. Ricke, Jr., 92, formerly of Titusville passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Liberty Shepherd of the Valley in Girard, OH.

Howard was born on April 27, 1931, in Titusville to the late Howard J. and May W. (Olson) Ricke. He married Mary E. Ross on June 28, 1955, in Plummer. She preceded him in death on January 14, 1996.

He was a graduate of Titusville High School.

Howard was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War as a frontline medic.

He worked at Queen Cutlery for 62 years.

Howard was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion and a Life member of St. Paul's Church until its closing.

Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting at his cottage in Mystic Park, and being with his family and friends. Many wonderful years were also spent on their Church Run Road Farm, gardening and tending to their many farm animals.

He is survived by two daughters, May Love of Warren, OH, and Cynthia Zinram and husband Steve of West Lake, OH; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Howard was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan L. Ricke; and his sister Mildred R. "Millie" Sorrell.

Family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, on Friday from 11 to 1 pm with the funeral service to follow conducted by Tom Newcombe of the First Presbyterian Church.

Interment will be at Triumph Swedish Union Cemetery.
