Ingrid A. Burns, 83, of Titusville, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Carolyn's Hospice House in Harrisburg due to complications from a recent stroke.
Ingrid was born in Offenbach, Germany, on September 4, 1941, to the late Jakob H. and Maria P. Bach. She married Robert S. Burns on March 26, 1960, in Germany. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1980.
She attended primary school in Germany, and as a testament to her need to complete every task she started, she received her high school diploma from Titusville Area School District in 1992 after she raised her children.
Ingrid worked various jobs in Titusville and was last employed as a cook at Titusville High School where she retired in 2007.
Ingrid was never one to sit still for long. Her hands were rarely idle, whether crocheting intricate blankets, baking German cookies for her grandchildren, or tending to the many animals that seemed to find their way into her care. She approached each task with the same dedication, seeing in every project an opportunity to create and give. Those who knew her will forever remember the warmth she brought into their lives, the care she poured into every detail, and the joy she found in keeping busy for the sake of others.
Ingrid is survived by her two sons, Richard Burns of Etters, PA, and Steven Burns and wife Melissa of Vienna, VA; two grandchildren, Alexander Burns and Julia Burns, both of Vienna, VA; a brother, Klaus Behrhof of Hamburg, Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc., 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Wednesday, August 13th, from 12 to 1 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be conducted with Fr. Daniel Hoffman, officiating.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to American Humane Society.
