Irene B Davenport, a cherished matriarch of 94 years, transitioned peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at LECOM Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. Formerly a long-time resident of Titusville's Central Towers, Irene was born into the loving arms of her late parents, Samuel and Mary (Richy) Bliznesky, on March 6, 1929, in Titusville. A proud alumna of Titusville High School's Class of 1947, Irene's career journey was as diverse as it was impactful. She imparted culinary wisdom to students at Venango County Vo-Tech, brightened customers' days as a deli clerk at Riverside Markets, and nourished young minds and bodies as a cook for the YWCA Twin Creek Headstart program. Deeply spiritual, Irene was a devoted member of St. Walburga Church and generously lent her time and talents as a volunteer at the Toy Factory. Irene's enduring legacy is carried on by her loving daughter, Susan Herbstritt of Erie; her three cherished grandchildren, Michael Herbstritt (Erie), Douglas Lauer and his fiancée Ange Velez (Coraopolis), and Laura Herbstritt alongside her companion Nihad Ozegovic (Erie). Additionally, she leaves behind four great-grandchildren, McKenna Herbstritt, Liam, Caiden, and Majla Reign Ozegovic—all of Erie—who will forever feel her love and guidance. In a celestial reunion, Irene joins her three brothers—Matthew, John, and Walter Bliznesky—and her three sisters—Kate Sowa, Staffie Birtciel, and Anna Pringle—who preceded her in departure from this world. In honoring Irene's wishes, no formal services will be held. Her life, however, will continue to be celebrated every day through the cherished memories and loving actions of those who knew her.
