James David Cartney, 62, of Titusville, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Oil City Healthcare and Rehab Center after an extended illness.
Jim was born on September 29, 1963, in Titusville to the late James A. and Patricia A. Kertcher Cartney.
He was a graduate of Titusville High School, Class of 1982.
Jim worked as a meat cutter at Wegmans in Erie for 27 years before retiring.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 368 and a past member of the Jaycees Club.
Jim enjoyed hunting, was an enthusiastic Notre Dame and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, attended all his sons' football games, and helped coach little gridders football. He loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his son DJ Cartney and wife Alyssa of Albion, and Brandon Cartney and wife Carolin of Northeast; three grandchildren, Quinn, Delaney, and Aria Cartney; his brothers, Jeffrey Cartney and husband Thom of Lakewood, OH, Todd Cartney and wife Shelley of Titusville; a nephew Gage McIntyre and wife Kayla of Titusville; a great niece and nephew, Kora and Dax McIntyre of Titusville.
He was preceded in death by his aunt, Elaine Kertcher Vosburgh.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
