James Ongley Obituary

James D. Ongley, 64, of Pleasantville went to his eternal home in heaven on October 1st, 2025, at Hamot hospital in Erie after experiencing a ruptured brain aneurism at home on Saturday, September 20th. Every medical effort was used in an attempt to save his life, and the Ongley family thanks the wonderful staff at Hamot for their extraordinary care. Jim was an organ donor, and although his life as we knew it ended, he ultimately gave the gift of life to others in need.

Jim was born on July 21st, 1961, in Titusville PA to Pauline (Dean) Ongley and the late Alfred Ongley. He was a graduate of Youngsville High School, class of 1979.

Jim worked hard his entire life in many different aspects of the logging industry including working in the woods as a tree feller and skidder operator, being a sawmill owner at several locations, and being a triaxle log truck owner/operator. He was most recently employed as the parts manager at Ongley's Outdoor Power in Titusville, where he worked with his son and made it his goal to brighten other people's day.

Jim was raised in the church by loving Christian parents. He would be the first to tell you about his many years of struggle with sin and wandering from the faith, but by the grace of God, he was saved (born-again) on June 21st, 2001, when he fully put his faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. That decision brought about many years of faithful service to God through various churches and ministries. He was baptized on July 28th, 2002. He was most recently a vital part of the Titusville Alliance Church family.

Jim was strong as an ox and gentle as a lamb. He loved deeply and had a witty personality, with a special gift for making people laugh. He often helped others by giving people the shirt off his back, even at times in his life when his personal resources were limited.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Judi (Leach) Ongley, whom he married on June 18th, 1982. He is also survived by his mother, Pauline Ongley of Grand Valley; children, Jacob Ongley and wife Jamie of Pleasantville, Jeni Ongley of Pleasantville; his two grandchildren, Carson and Caleb Ongley of Pleasantville, whom Jim was a proud and loving papa to; his sisters, Sandi Kemp and husband Rick of Grand Valley, Sue Ongley of Pleasantville, Judy Paulich and husband John of Pleasantville, Gayle Beers and husband Randy of Grand Valley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was proceeded in death by his father Alfred Ongley; his sister Kathy Slocum; and his brother Alan Ongley.

Jim will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. Everyone who was touched by his life is invited to attend the visitation at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Monday, October 6th, from 5 to 7 p.m.
