Obituary
Jean Marie Matthews, 92, of Titusville passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at her residence.
Jean was born on September 7, 1930, in Corry to the late William and Louise (Mays) Spiesman. She married Gerald J. "Jerry" Matthews on May 20, 1950 at St. Walburga Church. Mr. Matthews preceded her in death on October 13, 2013.
She was a graduate of Corry High School.
Jean was formerly employed for 25 years as a teacher's aide and office assistant with the Titusville Area School District.
She was a member of St. Titus Church and the Titusville Senior Center.
Jean enjoyed playing pinocle and shopping for Wedgewood antiques.
She is survived by her 2 sons, John Matthews and wife Michaela, of Medford, NJ, Richard Matthews and wife Mai-Giang "Christina" of Nuevo, CA; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Matthews of San Diego, CA, Maria Matthews of Long Beach, CA, Jack Matthews of Medford, NJ, Margaret Matthews of Philadelphia, Michael Matthews of Birmingham, AL; and a sister, Mary Lou Zappia and husband Rocco of Erie.
Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Spiesman; and 2 sisters, Katherine Muckinhaupt and Barbara Downey.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Titus Church on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Christopher Barnes, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Catharine's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Titusville Senior Center 714 E. Main St., Titusville, PA 16354.
