John “Jack” Loyal Hoffman, Jr., 88, of Titusville passed away on Thursday November 30, 2023 at his home after a noble battle with leukemia.
Jack was born on July 7, 1935 in Clintonville, PA to John Sr and Nellie (Smathers) Hoffman. Jack married the love of his life, the former Violet Beach on July 12, 1958. This year they celebrated 65 years of blissful marriage.
After graduating from Colestock High School in 1954 Jack served in the U.S. Army in Killeen, TX and in Germany. He was quick to let people know Elvis was also serving in both places at the same time.
After his honorable discharge he returned to Titusville where he worked at the Union City Boat Factory and Ellis Days before retiring from Cytemp after 26 years. Jack had an excellent work ethic that he developed at a young age setting pins at the bowling alley and caddying at the golf course.
In his free time Jack enjoyed playing shuffleboard and was a proud member of The Oaks winning team for many years. He had acquired many bowling and horseshoe trophies and was fondly referred to as “Awesome Jack”.
Jack was also a dedicated Titusville Rockets football fan and did not miss a game in over 50 years, only stopping during covid.
To say he had a love for driving would be an understatement. He loved the road trips with his family and traveled coast to coast many times. In his retirement he drove cars for local dealerships. He only stopped driving in October which was one of the things he greatly missed.
Jack loved country music and could be found listening to his records or watching westerns. Always a jokester he would playfully jump out of the way of any cars pulling into his driveway and always had someone to lovingly tease. He enjoyed puttering around in his garage and organizing his many records and DVD’s. He watched these with his brother every Sunday evening. Such a sweet man, who loved every day of his life, and chatting with every person he met. Every encounter with him would make you smile.
He is survived by his wife Violet; his loving children Debbie Wakefield and son Rick (Vickie) Hoffman; adoring grandchildren Jennifer (Joel) Kerr, Leigh (Hayes) Weidman, Stacy (Tom) Musgrave, Christopher (Stephaney Wright) Hoffman; great grandchildren Kali and Sam Sampson; Grant, Clark, and Vivian Weidman; Hadley, Griffin, and Bennet Musgrave; Brady and Roan Hoffman; a brother Bill Hoffman; brother and sister-in-law Denny and Patty Beach; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother in laws, Albert Beach, Leo and Lily Beach, Dale and Dotty Beach, Ed and Virginia Beach, Dick and Patty Beach, and Don and Bernice Beach.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354 on Sunday, December 3rd from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and attend the funeral service on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
