Obituary

John M. Syphrit, 82, of Titusville passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at his residence.

John was born on September 20, 1940, in Munderf, Jefferson County, the son of the late Glenn and Effie (Murray) Syphrit. He married Kathryn Hopkins on February 17, 1960, in Turkey City. Mrs. Syphrit passed away on December 2, 2004.

He attended St. Joseph's Academy.

John was formerly employed by Skyline Industries and in the finishing and shipping department at Cyclops Specialty Steel Corporation at the time of his retirement.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, and Titusville Moose.

John enjoyed camping, woodworking, taking care of his yard mowing and gardening.

He is survived by his son, John A. Syphrit and wife Carolyn of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Traci Dilley and husband William of Titusville; 3 grandchildren, Airelle Syphrit of San Francisco, CA, Lauren Cubbon and husband Justin of Centerville, Dalton Moore and girlfriend Katie Smith of Pleasantville; 2 great-grandchildren, Colton Cubbon and Calista Cubbon; 2 sisters, Elsie Rossman, Nellie Uplinger both of Brockway; numerous nieces and nephews; and 2 close neighbor friends, Rose Dilley and Olivia which John referred to as Pumpkin.

John was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald, and Tom Syphrit; and 3 sisters, Doris Wyant, Etta Felicia, and Rae Jean Will.

The family of John would like to thank Lorraine, Rhonda, Becca, Abigail, Deb, and Shirley for their care and loving support.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Crawford County 417 N. Monroe St., Titusville, PA 16354.

Burial of ashes will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held at a date in September to be announced.
