Karen Ann Murphy Gardiner, 79, of Titusville passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital surrounded by her family.
Karen was born on December 28, 1943, in Titusville to the late Arthur Joseph and Mildred Ruth (Frost) Murphy.
She was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1962 and Spencer Hospital School of Nursing, Meadville in 1965.
Throughout her 45 years as a Registered Nurse, Karen worked as Industrial Nurse for Joy Manufacturing in Franklin and Cytemp Steel in Titusville. Karen was the Nurse Administrator for the Titusville Presbyterian Home. She was also a dialysis nurse in Meadville and finished her nursing career at the Cambridge Springs State Prison.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Mageetown.
Karen loved nature, bird watching, flower gardening, reading, traveling to Maine, and road trips to Moose Alley. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and having family pets around her.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Ferency and husband Leonard of South Park, Kristy McGill and husband Travis of Titusville; 6 grandchildren, Luke, Dylan, Sydney, Jacob, Cassandra and Sophia; a brother, James Murphy of Centerville; and several cousins.
Karen was preceded in death by her former husband Richard A. Gardiner.
A private memorial service is being conducted for the family.
Interment of ashes will be in Curry Cemetery.
