Kathleen Thurau Obituary
Kathleen A. Thurau, 72, of Centerville, passed away at her residence on Friday, September 12, 2025.
Kathleen was born in Rochester, PA, on February 8, 1953, to the late Harold E. and Helen L. Reese
Carpenter. She married James Thurau on February 25, 1984, in Rochester, PA.
She was a graduate of Rochester High School, Class of 1971. She earned her associate's degree in early childhood development from the Community College of Beaver County and later obtained her LPN certificate from Crawford County Vo-Tech.
Previously, Kathleen held positions as an LPN at Crawford County Care Facility, Meadville Medical Center (Liberty St. location), the Transitional Care Unit at Grove St., and as a private duty nurse. Her most recent role was as a camp nurse at Custaloga Town Scout Camp for five years.
She was a member of the Titusville First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Bible Study Group and being with her church friends.
Kathleen was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, interacting with her friends on Facebook, and being with her family.
She is survived by her husband Jim of Centerville; her children, Sarah Walter and husband Armond of Meadville, and Timothy Thurau of New Brunswick, NJ; three grandchildren, Amelia and twins, Avery and Oliver Walter, all of Meadville; her brother, Mark Carpenter and wife Alyse of Rochester Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Carpenter.
Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at the Titusville First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Brian Borger, officiating.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
