Lawrence S. “Larry” Foster, 78, of Dempseytown, passed away Thursday morning August 8, 2024 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA.
Larry was born on February 16, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Leroy and Idella Baker Foster. He was married to Cathy Storer on October 10, 1992 in Cookstown, NJ.
Larry served his country in the US Air Force making it a career for 33 years. He entered the service on March 5, 1964 in Philadelphia, PA. He served as a flight engineer while serving during both the Vietnam Conflict and Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged and retired from the Air Force on September 30, 2005.
Larry was a member of the Cleo J. Ross Post No. 368 American Legion in Titusville and was a life member of the Oil City Post 464 VFW. He was also a member of the Pulaski Club in Oil City.
Larry enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley Davidson, swimming, spending time outdoors, and watching pro football, being a Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed his pets, “Tucker”, “Gronk” and “Ginger”.
Larry is survived by his wife Cathy of Dempseytown; his children, Christine Foster and companion Patrick Drinkwater of Castleton, VT, Jennifer Pignetti and husband Gianni of Philadelphia, and Lawrence S. Foster, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Gianna Pignetti of New York City, Althea Foster of Appleton, WI, and Owen Foster of Denver, CO; a brother, Terry Foster and wife Cindy of Franklin; a sister, Linda Nunemaker and husband Herb of Sheakleyville, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Amico; three brothers, Robert, Peter and Quay; and four sisters, Betty, Ruth, Shirley, and Donna Jean.
Family and friends may attend a celebration of Larry's life on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM at the American Legion Hall in Titusville.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Cleo J. Ross, Post No. 368 American Legion 113 E. Central Ave. Titusville, PA 16354.
