Lois Janet Crawford, 90, of Centerville, passed away Monday afternoon June 9, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.
Janet was born on December 1, 1934 in Centerville, a daughter of the late Gerdon and Avis Church Yochum. She was first married to Floyd F. Magee. Janet later married Bill” Crawford who preceded her in death on December 17, 1997.
Janet was a graduate of Townville High School, class of 1952. She had worked at the former G.C. Murphy Co. as a clerk, floor girl and cashier. She later worked at W.T. Grant Co. in Titusville following high school for 10 years. She also did work for several Titusville families before her husband got transferred to Kentucky with the Phillips Products Co. (Phillips 66). She did domestic work in Kentucky until retiring in 1985. She was awarded a special missions recognition certificate and a gold pin for her outstanding work from the United Methodist Women in Williamstown, KY. Janet and Bill moved back to Pennsylvania to Janet’s homestead where she was born and raised.
Janet enjoyed many hobbies, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and puppy “M&M”. She was a past member of the Gas and Steam Engine Society; past president and secretary of the Townville Area Senior Citizens; past president and secretary of the Titusville AARP Chapter #2511 from where she received 3 special recognition awards; Chapmanville Ladies Auxilliary; Townville Womens Club; president of Troy Center Ladies Aid Society; and treasurer and member of Troy Center United Methodist Church. She also served for 30 years on the Troy Township Election Board as clerk and also as judge.
Janet is survived by a son Daniel R. Magee and wife Judy of Edinboro; two daughters, Susan Howell and husband Larry of Samson, AL and Joyce Magee Fuqua of Dry Ridge, KY; three grandchildren, Daniel P. McComas of Centerville, John P. McComas of Dry Ridge, KY, and Melinda Shaffer and husband Robert of Independence, KY; two great grandsons, Austin McComas of Dry Ridge, KY and Waylon Shaffer of Independence, KY; a great granddaughter, Amber J. McComas of California; three great great granddaughters; three nephews; several great nephews; several cousins; four step daughters, Ethel Johnson and husband John of North East, PA, Linda Crawford of Clearwater, FL, Cindy Bavas and husband Mark of Hydetown, and Lisa Pearson and husband David of Pleasantville; a step great granddaughter; four step grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Yochum of Winter Park, FL.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Yochum; three brothers, Gaylord, Kenneth and George Yochum; two sisters-in-law, Effie and Marge Yochum; a step grandson, Andy; and her pet dog “M&M”.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354 on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 10 AM at the Troy Center Community Church with Rev. Frank Weingard officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville.
