In the early afternoon of September 9, 2024, Loretta A. Caldwell, 84, went "home" after a brief illness, she passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Loretta was born on April 2, 1940, in Oil City, a daughter of Polish immigrants John and Antoinette Puszak Gutowski.
Lorretta attended the former Saint Joseph Academy in Oil City.
She was a member of TOPS and a life member of the Polish National Alliance. She never missed a Thursday TOPS meeting unless the roads were bad.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Sanford and husband Brian of Franklin; her sons, Ronald "Butch" Barker and wife Cindy of Florida and Harold "Buster" Barker and friend Deborah Acton of Florida; her brother, Daniel Gutowski of Oil City; and sister, Nancy Thornton and significant other Wes of Sharon; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Andrea, Jessica, Jennifer, Tonja, LaCole, and their spouses and children.
Silly grandma had a special relationship with her great grandchildren, Dominick, Mahalia, Coy, and Finn. She spent hours entertaining them with games and laughter. Loretta remained friendly with her first husband, Ronnie Barker until his death. She was always welcome at all the Barker family functions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Caldwell, her grandson Jason Barker, and her siblings Martha Wydro, John Gutowski, Norbert Gutowski, Raymond Gutowski, Joanne Carter, and Sister Justina OSB.
The family would like to thank the VNA Alliance, Hospice of Crawford County, Brianne Wakefield CRNP, and the Faith Community Church Family for all their help and prayers. An extra thank you is necessary for Eric, Tonja, Jason and LaCole for their dedication to Grama these last few months. They stayed the course and never lost hope.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Faith Community Church in Enterprise, from 1 PM - 2:30 PM, with a service to follow with Pastor Ralph Walters officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made out to the Faith Community Church, 743 Enterprise Road, Titusville PA, 16354.
