Louise (Survance) Hallaway, 88, of Titusville, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Indiana on November 23, 1935, to the late Everett Cleo “Quince” Survance and Bernice Louise (Montgomery) Survance.
In her youth, she showed athletic and academic promise: on the girls’ basketball team, and was valedictorian of her class of 1953 at Shoals High School (Indiana).
Feeling a call to ministry, she attended Frankfort Pilgrim College in Frankfort Indiana. It was there that she met her husband, Rev. Dale Hallaway. They married in Indiana on May 14, 1955. She enjoyed a long career as a mother, homemaker and pastor’s wife, serving churches in Indiana, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, New York and Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca Peak of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Drexel Hallaway and fiancée Alane Roberts of Tomball, Texas, Deborah Muir and husband Howard of Centerville; five grandchildren, Amy Happoldt and husband Erik of Titusville, Anna Peak of Philadelphia, Sebastian Peak and wife Corrine of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Molly Altman and husband Chris of Kalamazoo, John Charles Peak and wife Tiffany; five great-grandchildren; sister Hazel Fuhrman (Indiana) and brother Roger Survance (Kentucky); numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Carol Sue (Hallaway) Drake and Carol (Survance) Cole, both of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dale Hallaway on June 13, 2021; sisters, Wanda Allbright, Lois Brashear, Wilma Snyder, and Doris Russell; and a brother Ernest Howard Survance.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354 on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Scott Bennett officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
