Marilyn "Sis" Cunningham Warren January 14, 1937 - July 9, 2025
Marilyn "Sis" Cunningham Warren, 88, of Meadville, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2025.
She was born in Titusville on January 14, 1937, to the late Robert and Marian (Gilson) Cunningham and was raised in nearby Riceville.
She graduated from Union City High School in 1954 and earned her B.A. in Theatre from Allegheny College in 1958, magna cum laude. Marilyn continued her studies at the HB Studio in
New York City, training under Uta Hagen and William Hickey.
She enjoyed a rich performing arts career that included off-Broadway roles in Red Roses for Me and The Trip to Bountiful, television appearances on Secret Storm, Love of Life, and The Doctors, and extensive work in summer stock and children's theater. After relocating to Hollywood, she focused on raising her family and appeared in national commercials for Sears, Colgate, Hallmark, and other major brands. She was a member of SAG, AFTRA, and Actor's Equity.
Marilyn was a parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Los Angeles, Immaculate Conception Church in Mageetown, and St. Mary's Church in Meadville. She was a longtime member of the Crawford County chapter of The Compassionate Friends, a support organization for families grieving the loss of a child.
A lover of books and crossword puzzles, Marilyn had a natural ease in drawing people out and a splendid knack for repartee.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Warren, and son-in-law, Subrata Chakraborty of New York City; granddaughters, Varshana and Revati; her brother, Robert Cunningham (Ann) of Atlanta; brother-in-law, Richard Petruso of Florida; former husband and forever friend, Clark Warren of New York City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Todd Warren, and her sister, Colleen Petruso.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Church in Meadville, with Fr. Kyle Seyler, Parochial Vicar, officiating.
Interment will be at Riceville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: The Compassionate Friends, P.O. Box 3696, Oak Brook, IL 60522-3696.
