Michael Patrick Canter

Michael Patrick Canter, 69, of Centerville passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at his residence.

Michael was born on May 18, 1953, in Youngstown, OH to the late John B. and Ann (Gordon) Canter.

He was a graduate of Girard, OH High School. He also served in the US Army from 1971 to 1973 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

Michael was employed as a carpenter through the local carpenters union.

He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Cleo J Ross Post 368 American Legion.

Mike enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them how to live off the land.

He is survived by his children, Michael J. Canter and wife Heather of Pleasantville, Jacob M. Canter and fiancé Melissa Winans of Titusville, Sara Wright and companion Clyde Conklin of Claysville, Michele Canter of Meadville; grandchildren, Michael Canter, Brienna Canter, Lauren Canter, Sean McGowan, Caelin McGowan, Catherine McGowan, Liam McGowan, Jayden Wright, Anna Lee Tharp, Nathan Tharp, Patrick Copeland, Cameron Copeland, Kevin Winans, Kessley George; great-grandchildren, Allyson Winans, Kennedy George; brothers, John Canter of Austinton, OH, Gerald Canter and wife Cheryl of Centerville; and a sister, Kathleen Canter of Warren, OH.

Michael was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Wright; and his former wife of 24 years, Jacqueline (Craine) Winters.

A private celebration of life is being conducted for Michael by his family.
