Mildred McCurdy

   Mildred R. McCurdy went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 5, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie. While a patient there, she received excellent care from the nursing staff and doctors.

    Mildred was born in Titusville on July 22, 1948, a daughter of the late Ervie and Gertrude (Geltz) Pennell. She married James T. McCurdy on August 14, 1982, at the Church of Christ in Titusville.

   She was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1966.

   Mildred worked as a babysitter for several families in the area, and later as a salesclerk for the former Ralph Cohen store until the store closed in 1991. She worked at the Titusville Senior Center in the kitchen, as an aid to the cook, for several years. She then went to work for Walmart in Cranberry before moving to the Titusville store and retiring in 2017. Her last job was as a cook for the St. James Soup Kitchen for about 14 years and again retired due to Covid and the temporary shutdowns.

   Mildred and Jim formerly lived on Bank St. until 1993, when they moved to W. Mount Vernon St., and just most recently lived to Cherrytree Plum Line Road.

   Mildred is survived by her husband, Jim McCurdy of Titusville; sister, Faye Pennell Anderson of Titusville; a niece, Rose Anderson Lauck and husband Roger; nephews, Robert Anderson and wife Irene, Paul Pennell and wife Rose, Tom Pennell and wife Vickie, John Pennell and wife Ann; brother-in-law, John McCurdy and wife Kim; and nieces Jullie Winn McCurdy and Christina Marie Venice Wardner husband Tim and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

   Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Fred Pennell; a brother-in-law, Richard Anderson; mother and father-in-law, Leona and Chester Hollerman; and several aunts and uncles.

   A celebration of life for Mildred will be held at a time to be announced.
