Myrna Wescoat Obituary

Myrna M. Wescoat, 95, of Titusville, left her earthly home for her heavenly home peacefully on Monday evening January 27, 2025 at Country Acres Personal Care Home in Titusville following a brief illness.

Myrna was born on February 8, 1929 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Truman and Mabel Gifford Wescoat.

Myrna was raised on an oil lease in the country and walked to the one room schoolhouse, where like most rural children received their first 8 years of education. She graduated from Colestock High School in 1949.

Myrna was an active member of the White Oak United Methodist Church for many years until she and her sister were unable to live on the family farm anymore. They became the first residents of the new Lutheran managed Von Bora apartments in Titusville. She then began to attend the Titusville Methodist Church. She and her sister enjoyed traveling and their greatest trip together was to Europe where they attended the Passion Play in Switzerland.

Myrna had voted every year she was able to and was very excited to have the chance to vote for a woman as president of the United States this past election.

Myrna was an active member and past president of the Titusville Historical Society. She loved to bake brownies and cookies for their fundraisers at the Monday night concerts in Scheide Park.

Myrna had worked as an aide and in the kitchen at the former Titusville Presbyterian Home for 44 years from where she retired. She considered working at the home as a way of serving others.

Myrna is the last of her immediate family. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Katherine Wescoat of Titusville; her caregiver and friend, Teresa Lohr; and cousins in the area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Twilla Wescoat, three brothers, Melvin Wescoat, Dillon Wescoat, and Merlin Wescoat; a sister-in-law, Sandy Wescoat; and a niece, Mabel Wescoat.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA on Thursday from noon to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Larry Reitz and Mrs. Jacqueline Wagner officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
