Owen A. Carpenter, 89, of Pleasantville, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at his residence.
Owen was born in Warren on June 27, 1935, to the late Hubert R. and Ina J. Conley Carpenter.
He attended Warren Area Schools.
Owen's life was marked by his service to his country. He was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, serving with honor and distinction, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
He worked as an electrician with IBEW for 62 years.
Owen was a Grace United Methodist Church member in Albion and the American Legion Post 285 in Waterford.
Owen was a man of many talents and interests. He could fix anything, a skill he honed as an electrician with IBEW. He was also an avid golfer, a skilled woodworker, a green-thumbed gardener, a guitar player, and most importantly, a devoted family man and friend.
Owen is survived by his wife, Betty Carpenter of Waterford; children, Guy Carpenter of Pleasantville, Michele Beddow and husband Gary of Hedgesville, WV, Suzanne Malone and husband Richard of Titusville, Deborah Henry of Wilmington, NC, and David Carpenter of Centreville, VA; grandchildren, Ashley Walker, Kyria Henry, Gabriella Carpenter, Ashley Flanigan, Brittany Armel, and Hannah Aberegg; ten great-grandchildren, Shelby, Hayden, and Caleb Walker, Thora Kate Whinsenhunt, and Aubrey, Nolan, and Miram Flanigan; a brother Tom Carpenter of Severn, MD; and a sister Audrey Ruth of Onoville, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica Ongley, and seven siblings.
No services will be observed at this time.
