Paul Dwight Hummer (86) passed away on March 29, 2023, in Salisbury, NC.
He was born on August 25, 1936, to George Marion and Arabelle Ida (Rumbaugh) Hummer in Titusville, PA. Paul was the youngest of four children. He grew up in the Titusville area and graduated from Titusville High School in 1954. He then attended and graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a PhD in Agricultural Economics.
He was a member of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity. After obtaining his PhD, he began teaching as a professor at Oklahoma State University in Agricultural Economics. He retired from OSU in 1998 as the Associate Dean of Education in the College of Agriculture.
Paul Hummer was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an example of what a disciple of Jesus Christ is and does. He was a true blessing to all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and both his brothers, James and John. He is also preceded by his wife, Mary (Harbin) Hummer.
Paul is survived by his sister, Patricia (Hummer) Geisendorfer, Rancho Mirage, CA, and his children: Lynn (Raymond) Holman of Summersville, SC; Bradley (Brenda) Hummer of Ault, CO; Juliette (Charles) Langston of Eagle Mountain, Utah; Heidi (Andy) Tarver of Salisbury, NC along with the mother of his children, Sandra (Hovis) Udy. He is also survived by stepdaughter, Carolyn (David) Butler, Mesa, AZ, and stepson, Lee Davis, Las Vegas, NV; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and both Hummer and Geisendorfer nephews and their children.
Family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354 on Wednesday, April 5th from 10:30 AM until noon.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Titusville, PA.
