Peggy Ritchie Obituary

Our mother, Peggy L. Ritchie passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Mom was strong and feisty up to her last breath, as anyone who knew her would expect.

Born on July 22, 1930, to the late Frank and Janet Kugler Rodgers in her grandmother's house in Oil City. She previously married to the late George Ritchie.

Peggy attended schools in Cherrytree and Oil City.

She left home at age 13 and became a nanny and housekeeper until she was 16.

Peggy had many jobs throughout her life, including waitressing at numerous local restaurants, bartending at several clubs, lumber handler, MFG boat factory, Ribbon Factory, and maintenance at the Presbyterian Home. She was the first woman hired at the City Garage, where she drove snowplow trucks and was known as the best street sweeper operator.

She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, playing cards, and doing puzzles. She loved traveling and going on cruises, but her favorite was going to the Moose Club to visit with her many friends and play tickets. She loved dressing up for different occasions, such as Halloween, and won many costume contests.
She had a full life and lived int exactly how she wanted to. She will be missed by many.

Peggy is survived by her three children Bruce Ritchie and wife Sheila, Debra Biltz, both of Titusville, and Shawn Ritchie of Akron, OH; a son-in-law Robert Rice of Centerville; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one new great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by three children, Sandra Ritchie, Rick Ritchie, and Kelly Rice; five siblings, Doris Dilly, James Rodgers, Trenton Rodgers, Frank Roders, Jr., and Linda Carter; and a son-in-law Dennis Biltz.

A celebration will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children 1645 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16505 or St. Jude's https://www.stjude.org/

The family would like to thank the Hospice of Crawford County nurses, especially nurse Cheryl.
