Phyllis Farren Obituary

Phyllis B. Motter Farren, 95, of Titusville, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her residence following a brief illness.

Phyllis was born at home in Venango County on December 18, 1930, to the late Frank M. and Winnie Strain Whitmire. She married John A. Motter on March 26, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1981. She later married Glenn L. "Pete" Farren on June 19, 1986, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2022.

She was a graduate of Shippenville High School, Class of 1948.

Phyllis worked as an inspector for the Oil City Glass Plant, retiring after 25 years.

She was a member of the former Diamond United Methodist Church and Red Hat Society.

Phyllis was a hard worker her entire life, and enjoyed working in her garden and yard, traveling, and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her three sons, Ronald Motter and wife Karen of Titusville, Gary Motter and wife Cindy of Titusville, and Edward Motter and wife Valerie of Titusville; a special friend, Jeanie Conaway of Meadville; five stepchildren; ten grandchildren, Christopher Motter, Amanda Parker and husband Chris, Matthew Motter and wife Stacey, Scott Becker and wife Lisa, Melissa Winans and companion Jake Canter, Rebecca Gibbs and husband Richard, Shannon Motter and husband Dr. David Morin, Harmony C. Motter, Justin Motter and wife Harmony, and Sarahbeth Motter; eighteen step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren; her sisters Ruby Cozad and her husband Phil, Alice Bramlett and her husband Gary, and Loretta Wessell and her husband Dan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her two sons, David and John Motter; her sister, Barbara Whitmire; and three brothers, Francis, Daniel, and John Whitmire.

Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc., 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Monday, May 18th, from noon to 1:00 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be conducted.
Interment will be at Wallaceville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Wallaceville Cemetery Association.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at VNA Hospice for the dedicated care they gave to Phyllis, and to Penny Helmbold, Pam Rosenberg, Nancy Donaldson and MaryAlice Dempsey for all the support they provided.
