Raymond Eugene Burrows

Raymond Eugene Burrows, 89, of Pleasantville, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Ray was born on August 4, 1935, in Titusville to the late Harry and Adaline Noyes Burrows. He married Leona Grace Edwards at White Oak Methodist Church on October 14, 1955.

He graduated from Cranberry High School, Class of 1955, and served for eight years in the US Army Reserves.

Ray formerly worked for PennDot, Trans Pen Wax, and Struthers Wells Corp. He was last employed for the Titusville Area School District for 21 years in the maintenance dept., retiring in 1998.

He was a member of the Pleasantville Methodist Church, where he served as President of Trustees, M&M Committee, and Altar Worship Committee.

Ray was deeply involved in everything his children and grandchildren participated in. He served as a Boy Scout Master, coached Little League baseball, and enthusiastically attended all their activities. His unwavering love and support will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Leona of 68 years, of Pleasantville; his son, Randy Burrows and wife Cathy of Oil City; two daughters, Rhonda Brown-Jones and husband Fred of Titusville, and Rene Christy and husband Bob of Pleasantville; seven grandchildren, Jared Burrows and wife Megan, Chad Brown, Travis Brown and wife Janet, Ryan Brown and wife Kelly, Nathan Brown and wife Analee, Robert Christy and wife Ashleigh, and Austin Christy and wife Sarah; seventeen great-grandchildren, Camden and Carson, Wyatt, Emma, Tavin, Aubrey, Tristin, Carter, and Collin, Landen, Ashton, Ariana, Alina, Aidan, Leo, Mae, and Sophia; a brother-m-law Gerald Edwards of Spring Creek; a sister-in-law Linda Tillotson and husband Perry of Titusville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Clarence, and Edward "Bruce" Burrows; a sister, Lois Colter; and a son-in-law, Tim Brown; his brothers and sister-in-law, Eldon and Kenneth Edwards, and Lucille Brown.

Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, on Monday, September 9, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Jerome Alsdorf, officiating.
