Richard J. Fambrini,83, of Franklin, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Oakwood Heights Village after an extended illness.
Rick was born in San Francisco, CA., on March 20, 1941, to the late Ricco and Agnes Fambrini. He married Sally L. Shrout in 1976 at Juniper Serre High School Chapel.
He graduated from Juniper Serre High School Chapel, Class of 1959. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in education.
Rick was a Vietnam War veteran who served in the United States Army. He served with General William Westmoreland's office while in Vietnam.
For many years, he taught history and geography at Junipero Serra High School. In addition to teaching, he was a successful track and cross-country coach and was later inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. He coached renowned athletes such as Barry Bonds, Tom Brady, and Lynn Swann.
Rick enjoyed sports, cycling, and traveling with his wife, particularly biking at Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe.
He was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church in Franklin.
Rick was a Knights of Columbus Council #1020 member, Franklin Life Center, Jeese G. Greer Post 1835 VFW, and the Italian Civic Club in San Mateo, CA.
He is survived by his wife Sally of Franklin; a brother-in-law Richard Shrout of Delaware; several cousins, Alan "Rick" Shrout and wife Maloy of Oil City, and Joyce Dootlittle of Titusville, Frances Sines of West Virginia; and close friend Nancy Whiting of Titusville.
Visitation will be held at St. Titus Church on Thursday, January 9th from 1 to 2 p.m. at which time a mass of Christian burial will be conducted with Fr. Daniel R. Hoffman, officiating.
Full military honors will be observed.
The interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
