Richard "Dick" A. Thompson of Titusville, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.
Dick was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1938 to the late Shairl "Rabbit" and Elizabeth "Betty" Kinney Thompson.
Dick attended Titusville Senior High School. He was a veteran having served in the US Air Force, enlisting in 1956
He married Ruby Leona Walston of Goldsboro, NC in 1959. He returned to Titusville with his wife Ruby, working at Cytemp Specialty Steel for many years until he retired. His retirement was spent working in construction for several years. He was an avid hunter and spent much of his life camping, fishing and working the family farm. Dick's happiest moments were spending time with his family, attending wrestling tournaments, and other events of his grandchildren, hosting fish fries and cookouts.
Dick is survived by daughters, Deb Cherry and husband Mike of Grand Valley, and Brenda Strawbridge and companion Dick Hunt of Titusville; a son, Rick Thompson and wife Judy of Titusville; granddaughter Bobi Cherry of Centerville, grandson Travis Strawbridge and companion Fireray of Titusville, grandson Mike Cherry Jr. and wife Jen of Corry, grandson Hunter Thompson of Titusville, granddaughter Tasha Roggenkamp and husband Cole of Titusville, nine great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Isabelle, Caleb, Adalyn, Jayden, Austin, Kayedence, Gunner, Layla, a great-great granddaughter, Eleanor Ruby; two sisters, Ann Burrows of Titusville and Gloria “Jean” Thompson of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby in 2019, and a brother, Arthur "Art" Thompson.
No public visitation will be held. Friends may attend a celebration of Dick’s life on Saturday, January 6th beginning at 2:00 PM at the Titusville American Legion 113 E. Central Ave. Titusville, PA
