With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Rita Kay Wingard on May 9, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of family, love, and a passion for going out to eat.
Rita was preceded in death by her father Joseph Fredrick Wingard.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel Lee Wingard of Virginia; her brother Joseph Micheal Wingard of Denmark; her daughter, Kristina Best and husband Joseph Best of Titusville; her grandchildren, Kaydee Lester and fiancé Rocky Burford of Meadville, Kaleb Lester of Titusville, Bryan Meilutis of Knox, PA, Joseph Best Jr. of Butler and Charity Deeter of Titusville; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Rita enjoyed living in a country setting with her family and enjoyed the different wildlife surrounding her. Rita's favorite pastime was any time she spent with family. She was kind to everyone she encountered and held no judgement against others. She was also known for her sense of humor and unwavering commitment to family. As Rita prioritized finding joy in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same, go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you.
No words could ever describe the impact she had on her family's lives. She may be gone but her memories will always be with us. If anyone would like to do something in her memory, please help someone in need whether it's buying groceries or paying for someone else's meal when at a restaurant. She loved doing that for others.
Per Rita's wishes, no services will be observed.
