Robert A. “Red” Davitt, 81, of Titusville, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Bob was born on December 28, 1941 in Titusville, a son of the late Robert and Mary Shotts Davitt. He was married to Katherine “Kay” Eddy on June 25, 1960 in Titusville. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2020.
Bob was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, class of 1959. He had been employed as a crane operator at General Electric in Erie since 1970 from where he retired in 1997.
Bob was a member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Titusville Moose Club, and of the Titusville Lodge No. 754 F. & A.M. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. Bob was also an avid Civil War history enthusiast.
Bob is survived by his children, Kimberly Schroeder of Valencia, Theresa “Terry” Davitt and Christine Phillis, both of Titusville, and Suzanne Walia and husband Pradeep of Knightdale, NC; adopted son, Tom Newcombe (Debbie) of Titusville; 8 grandchildren, Cassandra Phillis Rago (Ken), Melissa Schroeder Eckendahl (Ryan), April Phillis Fabiano, Matthew Schroeder (Rachel), Cheryl Phillis, Laura Phillis Grazier (Chris), Meerah Walia Waters (Alex), and Chaitan Walia; 7 great-grandchildren, Carlee Grazier, Caden Grazier, Brenna Fabiano, Brihanna Rago, Ryleigh Rago, Michael Eckendahl, and Ava Waters; a brother, Charles R. Davitt and wife Florence of Lebanon, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffrey R. Davitt; and two great grandsons, Ryland Davitt and Eli Grazier.
No public calling hours will be observed.
Private interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
A celebration of life for Kay and Red will be held at a date and place to be announced.
