Robert E Southall

Robert E. "Bob" Southall, 84, of Centerville, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his residence following an extended illness.

Bob was born in Titusville on October 4, 1941, to the late Earl and Bernice Beard Southall. He was married to the love of his life, Jean L. Sterling Huddleson, who preceded him in death on December 28, 2025.

He graduated from Titusville High School. After high school, Bob worked at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp., which then paid for him to attend the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering. After obtaining his bachelor's degree, he spent a year at Carnegie Mellon before earning his Masters of science in engineering metallurgical degree at the University of Pittsburgh.

Bob worked at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in the Research and Development department. He later bought Centerville Hardware from his father and owned and operated it for many years before retiring.

He was a former member of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Dept. and served on the board of directors. He was also instrumental in the Strawberry Festival for many years.

Bob enjoyed the outdoors, photography, reading, gardening, bowling, traveling, spending winters in Florida, going to NASCAR races, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his grandson, Dale Southall of Union City; his sister, Sue Robinson and companion Bud Bradley of Centerville; his niece Kim Martin of Centerville; cousins, Gary Beard of Centerville and Joyce Beard of Meadville; his step children, Teresa Kinney and husband John of Titusville, Timothy Huddleson and wife Lil of Centerville, and James Huddleson and wife Patti of Chapmanville; step-grandchildren, Ricky Huddleson, Jr., Tyler and Crystal Huddleson, Johnny Kinney and wife Shana, Amy Kinney, Nacole Biltz and husband Casey, Jennifer Huddleson, Timothy Huddleson, Jr. and wife Hannah, Michael Huddleson and wife Keri, and Brian Huddleson and wife Kelsey.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Robyn Southall; his brother, Dale Southall; his step-son, Richard L. Huddleson; and his step-grandson, Cole Kinney.

Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc., 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Monday, February 16th from noon to 1 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be conducted with Gary Kinnear, officiating.

Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery.
