Rodney Lake Obituary

Rodney B. Lake, 69, of Titusville, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on
April 24, 2025, following an extended illness. Rod was born on May 7, 1955 in New Castle, Pennsylvania to the late Rodney W. & Leta (June) Shouey Lake.

He was a 1973 graduate of Titusville High School, then enlisted in the US Navy & served from September 1973-October 1980. He served on the USS Saratoga, was deployed twice on Mediterranean cruises, served as part of the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department, was honored as the Sailor of the Month & was later promoted to the position of instructor at Oceana for his final duty.

Following his naval service, he was employed as a Field Service Representative for Fife Corporation of Oklahoma. He serviced the eastern US, repairing industrial measuring devices, while living in Connecticut.

In 1984, he and his family moved to Pleasantville, Pennsylvania where his entrepreneurial mindset helped him to start his own company, Sensor Services, where he invented specialized equipment needed to measure precise thicknesses of products in the manufacturing industry. He serviced industrial computers throughout most of the US & parts of Canada, retiring in 2017.

Rod is survived by his dedicated, loving wife of 50 years, Susan (Smith) Lake; his daughter, Aimee (Lake) Shaw (Ben)of Ligonier, Indiana; grandsons Andrew (Britnee) Shaw, Wesley Shaw & Nathan Shaw of Indiana; granddaughter Hali (Lake) Brown (Hunter) & great grandson Koen of Pleasantville, Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is survived by siblings Guy Lake (Tina) & Barbara Lake; sister-in-law, Kristen Patrick & brother-in-law, Richard Smith; numerous nieces & nephews.

Rod was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his buddies. He loved spending time outdoors, enjoyed canoeing & taking daily rides in his side by side. He had a brilliant mind & had an incredible ability to fix & build anything he put his mind to. He had a way with animals and loved his many pets over the years. He had a unique sense of humor, often making up songs about those he loved & his surroundings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin L. Lake, his in-laws Lawrence (Smitty) & Charlotte Worden Smith Shouey (Jack), & an infant brother, James Rodney Lake.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 4 p.m. at the Titusville VFW Pavilion 15179 Newtontown Rd. Centerville , PA 16404.
