Sherman Ray Copeland was born on October 18, 1945, and passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He was the son of Oscar Sewell Copeland and Virginia Mae (nee. Manuel) Copeland. He married the love of his life, Margaret (nee. Griffin) Copeland, on April 17, 1971.
He graduated from West Forest High School in 1965. Sherman joined the United States Navy to service his country from 1965 until 1985, and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He did three tours in Vietnam. He served on the USS America, the USS New Jersey, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, and others.
He served as the Allegheny Township Supervisor from 2013 until 2020.
He was a faithful member of Pleasantville Community Church. He also enjoyed playing cards and watching birds.
Sherman was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret Copeland and his sister, Connie (nee Copeland) Smith.
He is survived by two brothers, Richard Copeland and Thomas Copeland, one sister, Bonnie Copeland; two sons, Sherman (Toddi) Copeland, Jr, and Chris (Kathy) Copeland; one daughter, Emma (Jeffrey) Forloines; nine grandchildren, Amber (Steven) Webb, Zachery (Stacey) Macormac, Toni Macormac, Mattie Bowman, Emily Copeland, Carissa Copeland, Abigail Forloines, Dale Bills, Amy Bills, and two great grandchildren; Keanu Webb and Harper Macormac.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25th at the Pleasantville Community Church, 343 West State Street, Pleasantville, PA 16341, beginning at noon with Pastor Shawn Jacobson officiating.
