Surrounded by his loving family, Terrance L. "Terry" Miller, 85, of Riceville, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at his home following an extended illness. Terry was a devoted follower of Christ and would attest it was "God's Will" to call him into his "Heavenly Home", where his faith became sight.
Terry was born in Union City on January 20, 1941, to parents Francis and Doris Miller. He married the love of his life, Janet D. Schweitzer, on September 19, 1964, at Riceville Methodist Church.
He was a graduate of Union City High School, Class of 1959.
Terry was a veteran, having served proudly in the United States Army for 3 years. Stationed in Captieux, France, achieving the rank of E5 as a welder. He was honorably discharged on January 7, 1963.
He worked for 30 years at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. until the plant closed, at which point he retired.
Terry's greatest joy was his family. He invested his prayers and time into each child whether it was teaching a new skill or attending school activities and sporting events. Each one knew they were seen, supported and loved unconditionally by their Poppy.
Terry was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper. He cherished farm life, raising beef cattle, making maple syrup and gardening. He enjoyed baking bread and delivering it to whomever was on his heart. He also enjoyed visiting with others. His friends and family knew him for his quick wit and shared "knowledge".
Terry is survived by his wife Janet of Riceville; his two daughters, Sheila Nirmaier and husband Gary of Riceville, and Robin Patchen of Riceville; four grandchildren, Gavin Nirmaier and fiancé Charlotte of Pittsburgh, Sabrina Belch and husband Nathaniel of Fallon, NV, Hayley Patchen and fiancé Dorian of Pittsburgh, and Millicent Patchen of Pittsburgh; three great granddaughters, Poppy, Addilynn, and Emersyn; siblings, Joyce Welsh of Union City, Marvin Miller and wife Cathy of Riceville, and Gary Miller and wife Teresa of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Doris and Clair Hodges and his father and stepmother, Francis and Jean Miller.
Visitation will be held at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday, March 27th from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be conducted.
A livestream of the service can be viewed on Terry's tribute page at garrettfuneralhomeinc.com
Full military rites will be observed.
Interment will be at Riceville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Crawford County 766 Liberty St, Meadville, PA 16335.
