Treva L. Kerr, 102, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday afternoon January 14, 2025 at the Titusville Area Hospital surrounded by her family.
Treva was born on October 27, 1922 in Rome Township, Crawford County, PA, a daughter of the late Clifton and Bina Smith Morris. She was married to Harry T. Kerr on June 29, 1940 in Titusville. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2004.
Treva was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1939. She was a life member of the Bethel United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Bethel United Methodist Women.
Treva lived a life full of love, service, and faith. From her early years on the Kerr Hill Farm with her late husband, Harry, Treva was a natural caregiver. She devoted herself to raising her children and loving her grandchildren, always ready to offer help and support whenever it was needed. But her care didn’t stop with family. She held baking classes at Bethel Church where she taught anyone who attended how to make pie crust and cinnamon rolls. She spent evenings sewing quilt blocks together so that on Tuesday afternoons she could go to the church to make quilts and lap robes for anyone who needed them. She cooked countless meals for anyone who stopped at her house. She invited others to her home to play games of Hand and Foot and Dominos. She took her famous chocolate chip cookies everywhere she went, including dropping them off at the Dr. Office when she had appointments. Treva’s love and kindness were felt by everyone she encountered. She believed in the power of prayer, and her prayer chain list was always close by as she faithfully lifted up others. A woman of deep faith, Treva’s life was a testament to the joy of giving, and her example will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by a daughter, Marty Rodgers and husband Thomas of Slippery Rock; a son, James Kerr and wife Marsha of Centerville; daughter-in-law, Susan Kerr of Centerville; Grandchildren including, Lori Steinheiser and husband Aaron, Tom Rodgers and wife Rachel, Rob Kerr and wife Jennifer, Paul Kerr and wife Teri, Kristen Bates and husband Micheal, Kelsey Kerr, Kristen Kerr and husband Shawn, Jacquie Smock and husband Simon. Along with her grandchildren she has many great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter and another great great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph W. Kerr; two brothers, Howard and Granville Morris; and sisters, Marie Gregory, Geneva Halfast, Lois Beers, Freda Reagle, and Mildred Knight.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel United Methodist Church 15068 State Highway 89 Titusville, PA 16354 on Saturday, January 18th from noon to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Gregory Cox, pastor of the Ingomar United Methodist Church, and Rev. Roger Peterson, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church, officiating.
